Talent Hack is organising a virtual hackathon on 20th-21st April 2019 to celebrate World Creativity & Innovation Day! Join us as we hack to promote innovation, creativity and decent work for all.

On #WCID, you are invited to embrace the idea that innovation is essential for harnessing the economic potential of nations. Innovation, creativity and mass entrepreneurship can provide new momentum for economic growth and job creation. It can expand opportunities for everyone, including women and youth. It can provide solutions to some of the most pressing problems such as poverty eradication and the elimination of hunger.

We call on you to invest your time by dedicating one weekend to brainstorm, plan, develop, finish up and submit solutions that will empower innovation, creativity and decent work for all.

We invite anyone and everyone (the more diverse the participants, the better the solutions!) from all over UK to come together to raise awareness of the role of creativity and innovation in problem-solving on policies and programmes involving youth; on science, technology and innovation for the development of culture and sustainable development.

How to Enter:

Registration is now open and closes Wednesday 17th April 2019. To validate your entry please fill out this form and you will receive a welcome email with all the details on what to expect and the resources you need to be ready to go on the day of the event. We will also provide you with a digital marketing pack so that you can promote your  involvement 🙂

Hackathon Rules:

Details of the Hackathon, along with the three challenges will be made available the day before the event to ensure a level playing field for all participants! You will also receive all channel and mentor information in an email 48 hrs before the event. In the mean time we’d love the opportunity to engage with you and get to know you better! Signing Up:

  • The event is open to anyone within the UK: UX Designers, Developers, Product Owners, Marketers, Programmers, Sales Executives, HR professionals and many more are welcomed to join.
  • The aim is to have multi-functional teams of 4 to 6, working together as actual product teams. We will help allocate you to a team if you are an individual signing up!

Event Details/Agenda:

Start & Finish: The event will begin on Saturday, April 20th at 08.00hrs BST and run until 16.00hrs BST Sunday 21st.

Kick-Off: The team at Talent Hack will kick off with a presentation briefly explaining what we’re all about and give you some inspiration for challenges you will work on.

Teams: You will be working in teams of 4-6 people. As mentioned, the aim is to build solutions as teams, so make sure everyone in your team (we can help with this)  can contribute in a way that allows you to present a complete solution/product at the end of the day.

Suggested Team Roles: Ideation person. Designer. Developer. Domain Expert. Business Expert. Marketing Guru.

Challenge: Choose one of our three challenge that specifically excites team; be creative, innovative and put yourself in the shoes of your target audience to give them the best experience possible!

Presentation: Every team will present the hack they’ve built with a demo (if time allows) the same afternoon in the last hour of the event. The TH team along with their judging panel will ask questions on solutions and products and at the end of the day, decide on the winning team.

Winners: The winning team will have an original idea, that’s both innovative and customer focused, as well as well-executed.

Logistics: All you need is your laptop, a vacant boardroom at your office and lots of enthusiasm

Prizes: The point of this hackathon is to come together with other like-minded professionals to work on solving equal gender opportunities within the workplace, share ideas and learn from each other on a celebrated occasion such as the International Creativity and Innovation Day. The winning idea will be put forward to empowerment organisations for them to develop further.

What is a “Virtual Hackathon?”

Traditionally a hackathon is an event where participants from a variety of backgrounds team up to “hack” together creating effective solutions and program unique applications; teams/individuals are able to show off truly innovative projects they built and compete for prizes.

In our International Women’s Day Virtual Hackathon virtual, all participants are remotely connected. Irrespective of their location, hackathon enthusiasts can participate and demonstrate their skills on an online hackathon platform using various tools. Our virtual hackathon thus gives everyone the opportunity to participate, showcase their skills, and have fun from the comfort of their office!

Why should you encourage your friends to join in?

Creating a team with your friends is a great way to socialise whilst doing something good for the quest for economic / sustainable development.

Teams will collaborate to develop a proposal, build a prototype, pitch ideas and create a winning solution important for their growth. This event primarily promotes a maker culture that’s integral in today’s entrepreneurial climate.
